This month I’ve been studying airplanes with Carbon. For a bit we got distracted by rockets, but then some more airplane stuff came in from the library, and we got back to the airplanes. We’re going to do more rocket stuff next month, including building and launching a model rocket.

Things are better here. I need to respect my husband’s privacy, but he has decided not to move out and is working on issues while still living at home with me. It is my personal theory that we still haven’t faced the stuff that happened to him in Iraq. Just the difference in adrenaline and […]

Our much anticipated caterpillars arrived in the mail today. Carbon is thrilled to get to watch them become butterflies. He checked on them many times today, but I’ve convinced him not to shake the little jar. He was convinced one was ready to become a “chrys-wis” today because it climbed to the top of the […]

It’s really helpful for me […]

Well, life can turn on you very quickly. Last week my husband and I were talking to real estate agents and looking to buy land for our eventual “dream home” with space for orchards, bees, etc. Then, as a complete surprise to me, he told me he wants to separate. He’ll be moving out soon, […]

I would love to raise my kids without gender bias, but there do seem to be some big differences between my son and daughter that follow gender lines. Carbon liked dress up, but he would always be turning into an animal - usually a cat that would growl and scratch at you. Hypatia loves to […]

So many people have been leaving comments that they are gluten-free also! Wow, I didn’t realize there were so many of us floating about in the homeschooling world. My mom was not surprised, however: “people who care to learn about their child’s special dietary needs will also want to personalize their educations, and vice versa” […]
