Inchworms

We made “inchworms” as part of our Letter I theme this month. They were also a great introduction to measurement for the kids. We’d also recently watched an episode of Curious George where George was too short to ride carnival rides and had to measure himself to see if he grew. All the kids got the idea that they could measure themselves with their inchworms. This was very time-consuming and difficult, especially because the worms had been folded up to make “wiggle wrinkles”, but I went along with it and we recorded everyone’s height in inches. It was a fun little lesson, and they created part of it themselves, which was really cool to watch.

I sure hope the parents of your daycare kids understand how lucky they are! That is such a cool idea; I am sure they loved it!
Give yourself a break and make them do Jumping Jacks until exhausted next week!
