Bugs in the mail

Our much anticipated caterpillars arrived in the mail today. Carbon is thrilled to get to watch them become butterflies. He checked on them many times today, but I’ve convinced him not to shake the little jar. He was convinced one was ready to become a “chrys-wis” today because it climbed to the top of the jar. That is what the directions said they would do, but they seem to climb plenty all of the time. I gave a lesson on the butterfly life cycle to the kids last week, and we’ve colored some butterfly pictures. We’ll be reading some butterfly picture books while we wait for the transformation to occur. Here’s the layout for my story lesson:
