My first ever meme!
May 30th, 2007 by learningumbrella
Robin tagged me for a meme! I’m so excited - I haven’t ever been tagged before for anything! Now I feel like a real blogland inhabitant.
So, here it is:
Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
I decided to do some of the more surprising facts about me:
1. I like to sleep on my stomach. It was very difficult when I was pregnant and it actually made it hard to fall asleep.
2. I have three tatoos. I got my first one on my 18th birthday - it’s a dagger. Oh yeah, I was hardcore!
3. My husband and I split the naming rights for our kids - he was allowed to name the boys and I got to name the girls. We each had veto rights over the other’s choices. I vetoed one middle name: Pariah. What a horrible name that would have been!
4. I don’t like my size. I was an anorexic/bullemic ballerina when I was a teen, and it’s hard to get over that. I’d like to be tiny, and instead I’m completely average (which we call plus size in this country).
5. I cried when I saw on the ultrasound that I was having a boy. I was so sure it was a girl. Of course, I love my boy too.
6. I love to sing and I did operatic voice training when I was a teen. But now I don’t ever get a chance to sing except at home with the kids and at church during hymns. I can’t fit choir practice in with my schedule.
7. I told my husband that I didn’t like chocolate when we were dating, because I didn’t want to be stereotypical. But I love chocolate - why do I tell these stupid lies? I used to do that all the time.
8. I joined the National Guard right after I turned 18 - mostly because my Dad told me not to. But I really got into the military and enjoyed it - right up until I got sick with endometriosis. The Army is less than understanding of female health concerns.
9. I like to eat pickles, olives, and sauerkraut for snacks.
10. I used to want to be a survivalist, with the cache of food, guns, etc. Then I read The Postman by David Brin, and it changed my life - I became much more community minded.
Now, 8 people to tag. I don’t know who to tag, and I don’t want to make anyone mad, but I’ll tag: Nina, Piseco, Julia V., and RegularMom. That’s only four, but they’re so cool they all count as two people. (Okay, that’s lame, but eight is so many to do!)

You are so funny!
I sleep on my stomach also. And I’m sure every woman in America dislikes her size. I’m impressed about the National Guard. Wow! That took major amounts of courage.
Ugh, on #9, I’ll pass my plate to you next time…LOL!
I’m a stomach sleeper as well. There are only three things that I won’t eat blue cheese, rye bread and sauerkraut. Oh I should use that for the meme. Just today, Citcat asked me “What is a mem may?” Not sure if I mentioned the word to someone while she was around but it totally floored me. I going to write a post but I’m going to store it for future use. I pretty sure when baby number two shows up I’m going to have a little less time for active blogging so I am writing some posts in advance. Everyone keeps telling me that I’m not going to have any time.
I was disappointed when my ultrasound showed a girl. The tech said, “This will be a SISTER for your son,” and I said, “… oh..” I had some weirdo fantasy of having a houseful of boys. Oh well, I have TWO daughters now, and they’re awesome.
And, the most obvious thing about me - I can’t count to 8! Got carried away and went with my habit of doing everything in 10’s.
