Just messing with the theme

I’m so happy that Andrea got the custom header thing fixed! I like being able to change my header, so that it reflects what’s been going on in our lives recently, as well as the season. I had a nice picture of Carbon on his bike up earlier today, but he saw it and didn’t like it. This current header was his choice - it’s his “secret hideaway” in a giant cedar tree in a bit of oldgrowth forest.

I had noticed you’d changed your look a bit. I’m enjoying watching your efforts because I’m getting close to doing this myself. Tell me, do you find that Library Thing worth the effort? I’ve seen it before, and it just seems like a whole lotta extra data entry if you ask me. But it IS nice to have your books just pop up in your sidebar. So, is it really worth it?
Also, loved your math post. I went to ps, and I had similar math phobias. I stopped at Algebra 2 with a barely passing grade. And when I went to college, I ended up having to take a math placement test and I ended up back in Algebra 1. I thought it would be awful, but it turned out to be fantastic. I had a terrific Algebra teacher. She loved math and somehow made me love it too. I got her again the next semester for Algebra 2, and loved it again. Then, to finish my math requirement, I took something like “Math for Liberal Arts Majors” or whatever they called it, and I got this different teacher and he was just awful and we all hated him, and I managed to do well in the class, but math became a chore again.
But it was possible to get through college with “remedial” math. And in the end, I really loved Algebra. I’m hoping — way in the future — to be able to capture that love and pass it to my own kids.
The Librarything could turn into a lot of work, and I won’t be taking the time to put in all of my books. But I’m adding them as I read them (even if I don’t own them) and adding tags to the picture and juvenile books that I’m hoping will make them easier to search through in the future for different studies.
