Anatomy projects

My sister has been studying Human Anatomy, primarily with a Janice VanCleave book. I also assigned several projects, which I’ve supervised in the last couple days.
She’s done a couple coloring pages from the Anatomy Coloring Book. For those who think that a coloring book is not a real learning resource, I would point to its use in many college courses (including some medical school courses). There’s also a coloring book for Botany - I like this whole series of books.
She made a model of skin, but then she couldn’t remember “subcutaneous” when my DH quizzed her about it. That meant that he kept asking about skin for the rest of the evening, even getting back up out of bed to go ask her one more question before lights out. She was not amused, and it will be interesting to see if we end up with this division of “teaching styles” with our own kids.
Last night was capped off with a brain dissection. J. actually remembered most of the structures from her reading, and identified them accurately on the sheep brain. Everyone was fascinated and clustered around as she took the brain apart. A strange activity for after dinner, but it was actually a fun family time.

Okay, I admit that I couldn’t click through to enlarge the brain pics… I’m such a woos. But it sounds like you’ve got some really cool activites going on over there!
