A bit of Carbon’s seatwork
Mar 25th, 2008 by learningumbrella
Part of our day is devoted to seatwork. This means that the kids have to sit at the table, with a minimum of wiggle and noise, and do some school work or art. Seat time happens during naptime, and it’s part of a series of activities I do with the preschoolers to keep them quiet enough that the younger ones can get a good nap.
On this day, he wanted to use a marker instead of a pencil. His work was a bit sloppy, but he was so enthusiastic about it and had so much fun, that it was a good break from the usual drudgery that his pencil work is.
This work is from a fun Klutz book that shows how to make different hand shapes into creatures. I traced Carbon’s hand for him, then he did the rest. He’s never copied a picture like this before. He was taking careful note of how they had colored the example and he tried to match it.

That looks like fun! JediBoy likes to “copy” pictures so I bet he’d enjoy the Klutz hand-shape book… what’s the title?
