A couple quick sewing projects

I made this bear from a pattern in the book: Bearmaking 101. The process laid out in the book is different from what I usually do, because it had me trace the pattern on uncut fabric, then sew along the trace lines, then cut the bear out of the fabric. It seems like a good way to avoid failing to catch both sides in the seam, but it felt weird to me to do it that way. Habit I suppose. And I must have drawn the legs crooked or something, because one leg came out longer than the other one. So I named it Gumby.
These are some unflattering pictures that Carbon took of me in my new shirt. But look at the shirt, not me! The pattern is Kwik Sew 3567, which is designed for a serger. I used all organic fabric from NearSeaNaturals, with the tan fabric an organic hemp blend and the black fabric an organic cotton/lycra. I was worried it might shrink, but I didn’t want to stuff all five yards I bought into my washer. Luckily, the shirt did not shrink too much on its first wash. I like this style a lot, so I’ll probably make some more shirts off this pattern.
But I just got this package in the mail from ReproDepot, so I have a giraffe stuffie and some kind of robot clothing for Carbon to make next.
