Happy Earth Day, and No TV Week
Apr 22nd, 2008 by learningumbrella
Happy Earth Day everyone! We will be celebrating today by making little Earth Flags with the daycare kids (draw a Earth, cut it out, glue it in the center of a sheet of blue paper), and watching the city haul our old dryer off for recycling FOR FREE (Thanks, city!). We also have some books to read today about the Earth and how to take care of her.
Yesterdays No TV went pretty well. They did watch the movie, so we weren’t totally unplugged for the day, but after that there were no more requests for TV and everyone was well entertained by the art project I set up, the puzzles we just got, the books we read, playing outside for a 1/2 hour it didn’t rain, and their own imaginations. In fact, there was so much fun to be had, they also didn’t drag out hardly any toys, and I had an easy time cleaning up when they went home. Our evening guest was also entertained by the chicks and the novelty of hanging out in Carbon’s loft, so no one asked for TV in the evening either. After all the kids had gone to bed, DH and I did watch a movie of our own, The Darjeeling Limited, but I did not watch Dancing with the Stars so I feel like I sacrificed something!
