a festival weekend

This weekend was packed! Friday night was ArtsWalk in town, which is an annual event where downtown businesses display local artists’ work and there are street performers and folks walk around checking it all out. We went down with the kids (eating dinner down there first) and walked them around in the crowds, watching a juggling act and looking at lots of cool art. Hypatia loved some paintings that were displayed under black light, and Carbon liked these funky fiberglass sculptures. Then the next day there was the Procession of the Species, which is a really fun community-based parade that happens once a year, where regular folks make floats or costumes all representing different lifeforms.
After so much exposure to crowds and the need to keep our kids from getting lost, we are really tired! But it was fun, and it only happens once a year.

What an awesome event.
