A good morning

For the last few days, while DH is out of town, and these are my last few daycare days, I’ve been letting the routines slip again. The result has been a bit grumpy and messy and unhappy.
This morning I got myself up when I was supposed to, when my alarm went off at 6:30. I disentangled myself from Hypatia, who had wandered in crying at 1 am and fallen back to sleep in my bed. After a quick shower, I went out and did my new yoga DVD, which was wonderful and energizing and seemed to make me get taller. Then daycare toddler showed up, and I had to stop doing yoga when it became clear he was going to sit in my lap everytime I sat down on the floor. A quick cuddle of this little boy that I won’t be seeing so much of, and then I woke Carbon up.
I made the breakfast Carbon requested, and he was at the table by the time it was ready. This morning he wanted pizza for breakfast, but was satisfied by a cheese melt on a piece of his wheat free bread. I had a big glass of water and some fresh fruit. We are working on the hard “C” sound, so we read back over the words he’s collected so far, and then he wrote two new words that start with C. Then he did his counting workbook page, and counted to 10 in Spanish. I read to him from Ancient Egyptian Jobs, and he tried to do narration of what he had heard. He’s still finding narration tricky, but it’s such a good technique! At this point, Hypatia had got up out of bed and was playing with Carbon’s new Duplo catapult, so I had to let him go from school - it was too distracting and he was getting really tense.
I took care of Hypatia’s diaper/potty needs, and fed her a waffle with jam. Now it’s 8am, I am sitting down to check my email and have my first cup of coffee, and I feel good. After I finish my coffee, I need to hang laundry outside on the line, feed the chickens, and put away last night’s Costco shopping onto the pantry shelves. Other plans for today: read at least 3 of the huge pile of library books to the kids, finish the shirt and skirt that are my current WIP’s, mop the hardwood floors, and make tuna noodle casserole for my SIL. She’s coming to babysit for me tonight, so I need to feed her and she loves that dish for some reason.

Sounds like a wonderful morning.
I hope the morning routine has remained good over the last two mornings.
