The end of daycare
Aug 4th, 2008 by learningumbrella
What a crazy few days I’ve had! Thursday was the last day of daycare, which we marked with what I think of as The Party Recipe:
Balloons, Cupcakes, Streamer paper, and permission to decorate the house any way you want!
I also gave the daycare kids presents. It was a bit sad, but I quickly turned to the excitement of the NEW. My in-laws were fabulous and took me out for a celebration dinner, complete with champagne, sushi, and presents!
Now I’m starting the new job, which I actually had my first day of yesterday. One lovely lady at church had left me flowers and a card on my desk, so I had a nice surprise when I got there to set up. Sunday went well.
Today is my working from home day, and the mission is to sew shopping bags that the kids are going to fabric paint next Sunday (the badge is Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). I also went to a playgroup with Hypatia and had a chiropractic appointment - such luxury to go out of the house on a weekday!
Well, I should get back to my little sweatshop and sew some more bags. It’s a noble project to save a few bucks and use up some of my fabric closet, but each bag I sew makes me wonder again why I didn’t just buy the canvas bags at the craft store …

Sounds like both your celebrations were wonderful. I’m excited for you – that you’ve regained your health and have this new job you are excited about. And I totally understand what you are saying about sewing the tote bags!
Sounds good. Maybe a recap on some details for those of us new to your blog. I think I had been confused about the day care, thinking it was the end of you having your kids in daycare some of the time. I’m okay now. And the new job sounds good, what kind of thing is it?
What a great way to end daycare! I don’t remember whether I had a party or not. I look forward to hearing more about how things are going on your new job.

P was upset when “little man” moved away and our “day care” days ended, until she realized we could now go out during the day..on any whim.
Good Luck with your new job!!
