Who I Am

I’m a second generation homeschooler.  As the eldest of four kids, I was homeschooled from birth through highschool.  I then served in the National Guard, and attended community college, the University of Washington, and finally earned a Bachelor’s of Science and a Masters in Teaching from The Evergreen State College.

My husband served in Iraq for a year while I was in graduate school, and during that time as a defacto single-mother I also had the realization that teaching in the public schools was not going to make me happy.  I had never been inside a public school until I walked into one as a student teacher - it was shocking to me.

I choose to homeschool my two children because it is a wonderful lifestyle choice, and because I believe children were never meant to be assembled by an institution.
